Class Descriptions

Jazz

Jazz is a fun and mostly upbeat stylistic genre. Jazz often requires lots of sass and personality. It incorporates lots of technique, such as turns, leaps, leg extensions etc. In this class, dancers will learn Jazz performance with a big focus on technique.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a light and graceful style that is inspired and based off of Ballet technique. It requires lots of emotion and airy movements. In this class, dancers will learn how to express emotion through lyrical movement along with knowing how to control their movements softly and gracefully.

Contemporary

Contemporary is an expressive genre that is a combination of many styles such as Lyrical, Jazz, Ballet and Modern. It is a very versatile style and allows dancers to explore different and unique ways to move their bodies. In this class, dancers will learn expression through Contemporary movement and improvisation.

 

 Ballet

Ballet is a controlled, technical and disciplined style of dance. In this class, dancers learn proper technique.

 Pointe

Pointe classes are designed for dancers with previous ballet training. Dancers will use ballet technique while working in pointe shoes.

 Hip Hop

​Hip hop is a high energy fast paced style that refers to dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture.

 Tap

Tap is a fun and rhythmic genre. It is characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion.

Acro 

Acro is a class based off of gymnastics. In this class, dancers will learn basic gymnastic tricks that they can incorporate in dance along with stretching.
